N.Y. Gift Shifts Winter Dates, Location
According to George Little Management, the New York Intl. Gift Fair will make a one-time shift of its winter dates to a Sunday-Thursday format Jan. 25-29 because of venue availability.

GLM Moves TRIPS, Shifts Dates
George Little Management, a dmg world media company, has moved the Tourist, Resort & Imprinted Products Show West from Toronto to Vancouver and shifted the dates to March 1-3 at BC Place. It will run in conjunction with the Vancouver Gift Show.
Windpower Chooses 2009 Home
The American Wind Energy Assn. announced the Windpower Conference & Exhibition will be held at Chicago’s McCormick Place May 4-7. The show originally was scheduled for June 7-10 in Minneapolis, but had to pull out because of exponential growth making the Minneapolis Convention Center too small to accommodate it.
Ziff Davis Postpones Show
Ziff Davis has postponed DigitalLife, which was scheduled for Sept. 25-28 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center of New York, citing the economy. The show is for consumer technology, gaming and entertainment. The company is planning a show in 2009.
Questex Gets SpaTrade
Questex Media Group has acquired SpaTrade, which organizes networking events for the spa industry as well as operates two Web sites, www.SpaTrade.com and www.SpaExec.net. Questex Media already owns several tradeshows and three magazines that serve the spa industry.
TSW Fastest 50 Keynote Speaker Named
Stephen A. Geppi, president and CEO of Diamond Comics Distributors and part-owner of the Baltimore Orioles, will be the keynote speaker during the TSW Fastest 50 event Nov. 7-9 in Baltimore.
NAA Turns Two Shows Into One
The Newspaper Assn. of America will restructure its NEXPO and the Marketing Conference tradeshows. After a massive drop in NEXPO’s square footage, exhibitors and attendance between 2007 and 2008, the two shows will be combined into one and renamed NAA mediaXchange. The show now will focus more on digital publishing and less on newspaper manufacturing equipment, according to the association.
Economy Stymies Las Vegas CC Expansion
Citing current economic conditions, a Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority spokesman said some renovations of the Las Vegas Convention Center have been put on hold.

Foodservice Expo Relocates to San Diego
The California Restaurant Assn. and Reed Exhibitions announced that the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo will relocate to the San Diego Convention Center for its Aug. 30-Sept. 1, 2009, show, after more than five years in Los Angeles.
Gaylord Q2 Earnings Drop 91 Percent
Gaylord Entertainment reported a drop in second-quarter net income to $8.78 million, compared with $106.8 million in the same period last year, a 91-percent decrease. Revenues grew 36 percent to $258.2 million from $189.3 million in the same period in 2007.
Boyd Gaming Halts Echelon Project
In its second-quarter earnings conference call, Boyd Gaming announced it was halting construction on its Echelon project "due to the difficult environment in today's capital markets, as well as weak market conditions."
